About Sven
A life spent in songs, studios and stages.
Sven Blumer is a South African producer, arranger and session guitarist whose career has moved through studios, stages, teaching, journalism and radio since the 1990s.
The through-line
Music has always been about people.
Sven began professional session work in 1997 and has since appeared on more than 250 albums. He has worked as a studio and live guitarist, singer-songwriter, producer and arranger on electric, acoustic and 12-string guitar and mandolin.
He also holds two psychology degrees from Stellenbosch University, including Honours. That background shapes how he teaches and collaborates: technique matters, but so do confidence, communication and the conditions that help people do good work.
